comments and discussion thoughts

Thanks to Astrid for pointing out that comments required a blogger account...
I fixed it now so anyone should be able to comment. So let the comments roll in!

A few ideas for preparing for discussion. First, write down a passage or two as you are reading. Not a requirement of course, but it'd be great if everyone who came to the discussion had at least one sentence or paragraph in the book that they were prepared to read out loud and either ask a question or make a comment about.

Also, its ok if you hate this book. But at least read enough of it so that you can have a reasoned opinion about what's so awful about it.

Finally, I hope to keep the discussion centered around the book. But in some ways Elizabeth Costello covers a pretty broad scope- so you can probably find a way to connect your favorite topic to the book. Use your creativity! Finding a relevant passage is particularly encouraged.
